Project Analyst, Independant Project Analysis
I am actually working in a Benchmarking / Consulting company for the Oil and Gas industry. I am particulary involve in Capital Projects and especially in the FEED/FEL (Front End Loading) development phases.
I am now looking forward to puting all my practical knowledge into application within a project management team/service.
Account Manager: Manage day to day relationship between IPA and RioTinto Alcan Europe. Identify project process improvement opportunities.
Assignment: Client Coordinator of RioTinto Alcan. My role is to help them identifying gaps in their business processes and to improve their project system to achieve better than the Industry targets.
Main achievements:
-Discuss with client strategy regarding project portfolio management
-Monitor capital projects benchmarking against the industry
-Identify gaps in project practices versus Best Practical practices
-Help my client reinforcing theirs business processes to assure more predictable and competitive outcomes
-Improve project gate system and projects authorization packages
-Advise team on contracting strategy and change order policy
-Develop a set of performance indicators (cost and schedule outcomes, operability, safety)
-Train project services professional to project management Best Practices
-Facilitate meetings with top managers and directors to obtain their support
Capital Projects Assessment: Review capital projects (up to $10 billion) for large multi-national companies (Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil, Conoco Philips, Chevron, Alcoa, Johnson & Johnson, Merck…) in the Europe, Middle East, Africa and North America regions. Benchmarked projects included civil construction work, offices buildings, equipment fabrication and process plant installation.
Assignment: Lead analyst on authorization assessment. Carry out day-to-day assignments, including interviews, data collection, analysis, deliverable preparation and presentation
Main achievements:
-Understand project business case and check clarity of project objectives
-Assess project readiness for authorization
-Review engineering packages including cost estimate
-Evaluate Project Execution Plan (schedule, labor skills and availability, procurement strategy...)
-Understand and challenge client contracting strategy
-Review project control strategy and adequacy
-Benchmark project planned outcomes versus the competitors actual outcomes
-Highlight main gap regarding Best Practices
-Highlight risks that could damage project predictability
-Discuss with the client about our findings and recommendations
