I have been involved in innovation, change, quality and operational effectiveness all my working life. After completing my graduate training at Automotive Products from first pioneering anti-skid systems for trucks and cars, then Chief Development Engineer for Borg & Beck Clutch and then into developing new engineering processes - today called concurrent engineering. Frequently also used for a very wide variety of trouble shooting - good for my learning but not usually popular! My involvement since 1972 in using computers for engineering led to the purchase in 1979 of the 6th commercial CAD system in the UK. By 1981 I was looking in the Boardroom and realising that I no longer wanted what that offered.
McDonnell Douglas, the leading CAD/CAM vendor at the time, spent a fortune on my sales training. I repaid them with £14m million revenue over the next 6 years. Then three more Engineering IT Product sales jobs led to me to decide to become "a consultant".
At the time the only sort of "consultant" I wanted to be was not what I had already experienced and even been head hunted for.
