Silvia Fornos
Linguist, Freelance
As experienced linguist since 2002, I am glad to assist in any language-related issue from English, French and German into European Spanish. With this effect, please find hereby enclosed my resume.
As you will read in my professional background, different experiences for several years in Spain (born and educated), the UK (current location), Germany (2 years) and France (4 years) have provided me with an efficient knowledge of each language, culture and all necessary skills to become a professional translator.
I completed a Master in Technical Translations Tools (2007) which followed my Bachelor's Degree in English and German at Barcelona University (1996-2000). Additionally, I attended a Subtitling Course (February 2009) to deeply improve my competences in this domain, even though I had already fixed some subtitles.
Among my work history, I have been assisting United Nations and World Bank members in their medical insurance plan, taken part in the 5th session of UN Human Rights Council (June 2007, Geneva), and followed an internship by ABC Wordexpress located in Santa Monica, California during November 2007. I have also translated a luxury hotel chain website and Newsletters (references, conference interpreting jobs and other details under request).
Finally, I have collaborated as video games translator and QA (Spanish localisation team) with the well-known Blizzard Entertainment headquartered in Irvine CA, and I currently assist the Production Department of Square Enix (London) as Spanish video games tester. I combine this last job with a regular freelance translator position for Anakan GmbH, translation agency specialised in the video games industry.
In general terms, please note that I especially deal with Video Games, Subtitling, International Organisations, and Tourism & Travel.
Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
