An experienced and accomplished international Consultant with proven knowledge, skills and experience in Consulting, Business Re-engineering and Project/Programme Management for technically complex environments, gained from over 20 years of design and delivery of IT solutions for Corporates, Telcos and Government. Able to balance the often conflicting business and technical drivers of people, process, systems, technology and strategy to rapidly remove complexity.

2005 - 2007• Providing feasibility consulting for Openreach to resolve issues identified within the business or address regulatory requirements from Industry. Studies varied in complexity and duration, typically covering aspects such as strategic alignment, regulatory and legal compliance, technical / commercial viability and process impact.
2005 - 2006• Leading an 18-man/month programme to audit existing BSS systems and create a strategy for transforming/consolidating numerous systems covering their IP, Fixed Wire and Mobile lines of business, delivered over a new NGN infrastructure.
• Remit subsequently widened to transformation of the entire OSS/BSS architecture, including international subsidiaries in Mobile, Fixed and ISP – objective: to create a harmonised Group technology roadmap.
2005 - 2005• Providing a rapid assessment of a troubled software development/integration programme being delivered for a major client in order to identify the root causes of problems within the programme and provide proposals for prompt resolution of the issues identified.
2004 - 2008• CGD Research Trust ( www.cgd.org.uk ) supports children with a rare genetic condition.
• As Chair of the Fundraising, Development and Strategy Committee, this pro-bono (1-day/mth) role includes aspects of general governance and strategic planning/implementation for CGD and Jeans for Genes International.
• Built and delivered the launch of Jeans for Genes US in 3 months, including local presence, e-shop, merchandising and local fulfilment
2004 - 2005Created and led a Solutions Consulting/pre-sales team, owning numerous significant business opportunities across BT’s 4 main Lines of Business, including:
• Business Development, Pre-sales and Bid-management activities
• Designing and promoting the use of a new engagement model for the MBT/BT interaction to move from a tactical and reactive approach to strategic/proactive engagements.
2004 - 2004• Undertaking and managing feasibility studies across multiple technology areas within BT Group, to establish the commercial/technical/regulatory viability of the propositions and make recommendations on how to proceed.
2003 - 2003• Created the recovery strategy for a failing project, within a flawed financial governance renewal programme for DEFRA, based on Oracle 11i. Taking interim control of the turn-around strategy for the Project until a permanent owner was in place, liasing with multiple teams, departments and reporting lines. Ensuring compliance with Prince II and OGC.
2002 - 2003• Designed and implemented a rescue strategy to deliver a new financial system for the Malawi Government, on behalf of the World Bank, as part of a $12.6m IT programme.
• The project had stalled after over 3 years of little progress and was already $millions over budget. The solution was redesigned, re-implemented and operational after just 9 months.
2000 - 2002Directeur de Marché - Southern Europe, Telecoms-eBusiness Solutions (Paris 2001/2)
• Managing business-critical OSS/BSS engagements with multiple Telcos across Southern Europe, including bids, technical solutions, systems integration, etc. To ensure business was secured and delivered.
Market Development Manager - Serviceware Solutions (London 2000 - 2001)
• Leading technical and commercial engagements for named major accounts including: France Telecom, Telecom Italia, KPN and all their global joint ventures, as well as selected European BT JVs – 75% of time spent travelling and working across Europe.
• Matrix managing international bid teams for complex OSS and infrastructure bids, exceeding $1m.
1999 - 2000• Leading high-value, complex multi-vendor technical solution engagements with Times Top 250 companies and major public institutions/organisations. Taking projects from design to hand-over.
• Vendors included Citrix, Cisco, Nortel, Checkpoint, Microsoft, Compaq and HP.
1998 - 1999• Spearheading the launch of a new technology-based product into the retail and financial markets in the UK and Europe, as Product Manager for the UK.
• As the most technically knowledgeable of an international team, the role grew to encompass pre-sales consultancy and composition of bids and white papers in support of all regions.
1995 - 1998• Appointed to spearhead business development for a start-up IT services company.
• Created and managed growth from zero to over £1m t/o in under 3 years
• Personally sold and project managed all significant infrastructure and solutions engagements in numerous vertical sectors (including MoD, Petrochemical, Call-centre) and managed sales and technical teams.
