I am the author of 'The Accidental Salesman: Networking Survival Guide'. It's a hands-on manual for winning new clients and gaining more sales leads from business networking.

I specialise in helping IT Consultants win more sales from business networking - mainly because of my background in IT

I have been involved with IT for over 30 years. For the first 8 years of my career I was a systems accountant where I would be a translator between the techies and the business users. I then took a year off and went to do an MBA at Cranfield School of Management where I specialised in the marketing of service businesses.

I was an IT Consultant for 10 years and ended up working at Oracle before going to a medium sized IT consultancy to build an Oracle consulting practice. That was when I became The Accidental Salesman!

Specialising in technical products and services, we enable our clients to understand the buying motivations of their target audience and devlop strategies for quickly winning more business from new and existing clients. Our approach is to supplement and develop our clients internal resources. This may include consulting, mentoring, coaching, training, or indeed doing the work ourselves!

I was responsible for a business unit run as a separate profit centre. In addition to generating personal fee income I also developed several significant key accounts from scratch and managed a team of employed as associate consultants.

It was during this period I developed my selling style which was based on relationship selling.

Team leader working on a wide variety on projects around Oracle Financial Analzer. Major achievements including setting up a product testing and implementation team for one of the Oracle's largest Business Intelligence projects at the time.
