Nigel Bosworth
Business Development Consultant
Had a pretty varied career that started after I left teacher training college in 1976. Couldn't get a job in teaching so I joined management training course with the Burton Group. I stayed there for a total of 9 years, initially doing production engineering in the factories, then taking responsibility for the national network of garment alteration workrooms and then progressing into marketing and merchandising.
Left the Burton Group in 1985 and went into sports marketing with Mitre Sports. Specialised in sports sponsorship and responsible for negotiating contracts with organisations such the Football Association and the Premier League. Many advantages to working for Mitre Sports - such as free trainers and 65 visits to Wembley Stadium!
Left Mitre Sports in 1985 to become an independent consultant. Initially acknowledged as a sports specialist, I worked for several of the leading sports brands and also completed several EU sponsored sports and leather goods related projects in India, Pakistan and the Middle East.
In 1997, I got involved with a company that specialised in assisting new businesses and have stayed in this environment ever since. To date, I have assisted about 100 new start businesses per annum. I specialise in identifying start up funding whether it be grants of private funding.
I also find development finance for existing businesses and I am also involved with a new business venture that provides guarantees that assist companies looking for investment capital and debt finance. I know that this is something that the Government is currently looking at and might be the financial instrument that "kick-starts" the world economy by vastly reducing the risk that is hindering both private investors and the banks.
I am a qualified business and personal coach.
I live in Leeds and have a wide variety of interests outside work.
