Previous
I worked for five years (2002-2007) in the children's voluntary sector for a membership body (NCVCCO) where I undertook a variety of roles in policy, information management, strategy, events, consultation, editing and proofing, monitoring and evaluation, skills audit and projects. It was a good experience and I gained some very useful experience and transferable skills. I recently decided it was time to move on having been involved in property over the last two years and took the plunge and go full time. I'm enjoying every minute of being my own boss and being in control, choosing who I work with and what I work on.
Prior to the voluntary sector I worked in the education field for another membership body (Edexcel International) in a co-ordination role liaising with education bodies and our international offices in South Asia, the Middle East and the Far East.
So I guess the common theme is connecting people - individuals and businesses which I always seem to fall into!
Other
I'm very much a people-oriented person and enjoy interacting with people at all levels and from all walks of life. Everyone has a unique contribution to make to the world!
I'm also making a documentary on social issues with a colleague and I have a keen interest in personal development, life coaching and NLP.
I am a strong believer in working as a team towards a common vision that achieves better outcomes for all. No-one person has all the answers/questions - I see the challenge as identifying the right skills mix and co-ordinating these successfully to grow my business!
