    Summary

    Jeremy Blain Joint Managing Director, Cegos UK Jeremy joined the Cegos team as Senior Consultant in 2001, and became Joint MD in 2003. He is also responsible for leading the Cegos Group’s international client businesses. Working across 14 European countries and numerous locations worldwide, Jeremy coordinates operations and the rollout of training and consulting interventions. During his time at Cegos, Jeremy has helped to consolidate an impressive international client base including clients such as The European Commission. He maintains his role as a senior level consultant within the field of Sales Leadership and Management principles, Strategic and International Key Account Management, Insights Management and Advanced Selling and Negotiation techniques. Working throughout Asia Pacific for the last three years, Jeremy also has four years experience in the USA working for major American corporations. His previous roles include managing support operations for key internal and operational customers at Procter and Gamble and Pepsico, as well as leading training and development initiatives at both companies. He then set and managed his own business solutions company pioneering a strong eCommerce route to market ideal for the b2b channels, with the added benefit of dramatically reducing overhead burden. The business was sold in 2000 just prior to joining Cegos. Jeremy strongly believes that private businesses like Cegos could do more to make learning and development and worldwide best practices more accessible to the public sector and SMEs as much as for Blue Chip enterprise. Alongside Francis Marshall, he has been responsible for introducing groundbreaking initiatives to the UK L&D market. These include Blended and Extended™ learning, an innovative learning content & delivery system (Cegos-Accelerator™), Cegos Assess™ multipurpose online diagnostic and assessment platform and specialized Customised eLearning programmes. Jeremy’s major passion is in cultural understanding and tailoring key training messages to local organisations. He has a wealth of experience managing cross border business, cultural orientation activity and long term engagement strategies. Soapbox • Traditionally called ‘soft skills’, leadership, management, marketing and interpersonal effectiveness should be re-termed “professional” or “hard skills”. They are hard to learn, hard to do well and impact on key measures within any business or organisation. • Learning and Development in this day and age must be relevant and impact performance measures as a whole and for each individual. • Training companies need to prove their credibility and effectiveness with a more ROI focused approach. • Training budgets are the first to go when times are tough but how can a business recover if the people are not equipped with the relevant skills and knowledge to fulfill the job? Training companies must do more to demonstrate concrete qualitative and quantitative measures of impact and success.
