Jason Stevens is an accomplished OD Consultant, Trainer and Marketing professional and owner / founder of Ican Development Ltd. Previous to this, Jason was Head of Learning and Development for a large, nationally recognised food retailer. Having spent the last 13 years within the field of Training and Development, Jason has also experienced the world of Marketing, linking brand communication with his real passion for education and learning. In a nutshell his career runs from his early years in the Royal Navy as an Electrical Engineer specialising in Weapon’s Systems to Retail Management, various training and development roles, Organisation Development and Marketing. In all of his roles Jason has believed passionately in getting the best out of people to achieve better results... and this all starts with ensuring everyone has the capability and confidence to do a great job.
This passion for learning and people development is currently being delivered through Ican Development. Ican specialise in the development of Leadership and Management capability at all levels and within all sectors. The Ican client list includes Bupa, Serco, The Cooperative Group, Cheshire County Council, Mouchel, NCP Services, Harveys and Makro amongst others.
The philosophy behind Ican is to break away from the stuffy world of “Teach and Tell” type training and be more facilitative in helping learners to learn for themselves. This is achieved through the design and delivery of development solutions which Involve, Challenge And Nurture (which is where the positive name of ICAN comes from).
Jason believes in a learner centred approach with focus on the learner rather than making the life of the trainer easier. He is an advocate of brain friendly learning and has even banned PowerPoint in the past to create a more learner centred approach. Ican offer a number of solutions to help organisations achieve more through their people. By working closely with clients Jason aims to understand the real issues before suggesting improvements. Through Ican, Jason offers a training design and delivery portfolio covering all the areas of Management and Leadership that you would typically find in the Business / Management sections of a quality bookstore. Some programmes and development solutions are endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and Jason in licensed and accredited to facilitate and deliver various diagnostics relating to behaviour/personality, Leadership behaviours and Organisational Culture.
Jason is also a motivating and engaging Public Speaker and regularly speaks at private and corporate events. He is a recognised speaker for the International Business Development Group( IBDG), Institute of Director’s (IoD), Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and the Management Development Network (MDN)
Jason lives in North Wales with his wife, Jane and kids (Ben & Lilie) and blind dog (George). In his spare time Jason likes to go sailing and walk up big hills. There’s a lot to keep Jason and Ican Development busy at the moment but one day Jason aims to live in the British Virgin Islands and travel to and from work in a little boat!
