Professional experience
2006 - 2008

Working for Laurus Law LLP as a Defendant Paralegal for the last year, working in-house with a major insurer and primarily responsible for the management of a continual caseload of approximately 150 files. My work here was mainly in the Small and Fast Tracks with a small number of Multitrack cases.

In case management I was responsible for providing the insurer-client and policyholders with assessments and advice on prospects, pursuant with policy conditions, negotiating with Claimant insurers and solicitors. My litigation experience here included drafting defences and Part 20 counterclaims, applications, witness statements, participating in case management conferences, instructing counsel and preparing briefs to enable them to defend/ run the case at trial.

I was also a member of a specialist team defending the client from Accident Exchange Credit Hire cases involving challenges relating to efficacy and mitigation. This work also involved holding case-referral clinics; meeting with the insurer-client’s own dedicated credit-hire team and advising them on issues encountered in specific aged-claims. I recently progressed to defending against minor personal injury claims mainly involving infant approval settlements and low value whiplash claims.
