Benjamin Leroy
Junior CFD engineer, Aircraft Research Association
After few days of training in ARA I have started a mission for a Formula One team as a junior CFD engineer. Within the CFD team of the drawing office I am working on the aerodynamics of the 2009 car.
Skill Profile:
CAD packages : CATIA V5R16, Solidworks.
CFD applications : Fluent, ICEM CFD, Ensight, AutoCFX, TGrid, Gambit.
Tools : MS-Office, basic VBA
Operating systems : MS-Windows, LINUX.
Languages:
French – Mother tongue.
English – Fluent.
Spanish – Intermediate.
33 contactsMission for a Formula One team:
- integration into the CFD team;
- interaction with the aero development on the car;
- work with the wind tunnel team
2007 - 2008Dept. of Commercial Operations
Management of an international performance and quality control program for Renault UK (V6)
- After getting familiar with the programme for one month, I have provided reports and analysis of 35 KPIs on time, then I have been named V6 UK co-ordinator over the two next quarters (164 dealers)
Monitoring, reporting on the Business Centre sales programmes
- In charge of the management and gathering information on sales performance and the payment for 30 excellence fleet dealers through UK, I have run it for two quarters (£300,000 budget each)
Sales forecast analysis
- I was responsible for the sales forecast analysis on a weekly basis, the evaluation of the risk at month end, and of the report to the board of directors during tactical meetings
2005 - 2006Dept.: Unit of Research and Development on the AASM (modular air to ground weapon)
Aerodynamic dimensioning of the AASM
- I have provided studies of validation of the CFD tool for numeric simulation (external aerodynamic application) and numerous simulations on isolated part of the weapon which led to the improvement of the use of these tools.
Fluid dynamics analysis on various weapons and shapes
- I have led a draft feasibility study on the aerodynamic of a helicopter launched rocket. Budget restrictions didn’t allow the company to keep working on these kinds of projects.
Retro engineering of the competing projects (confidential classified)
- As a competing study, I have conducted from A to Z a retro engineering study of an existing weapon not yet commercialised. I have gathered information about it, built the 3D model and provided numerical simulation on a flight domain. It led to the creation of an aerodynamic model allowing a prediction of aerodynamic coefficients on the whole of its flight envelope; it was useful to compare its performances versus our weapon.
