Babs Lisgarten
Entrepreneur in the making, just needing a helping hand...
Hi,
What do I say? Well I am just starting out in the world of business, I have a background in law, having practiced as a barrister in England for nearly 10 years.
Why the change? Well, I haven't given up the law but I need a new challenge. I want to start a new enterprise, see it through, and make it a success. I have a few ideas which I'm finalising.
At the moment, apart from my day to day work I am Director of Fundraising for my hockey club which involves a lot of networking.
Any advice on start ups, from those of you with experience in the area, would be appreciated.
There's nothing here to add save that I was self-employed for many years then became in-house counsel, which I still am.
My responsibilities at the moment are, apart from managing a team of lawyers, drafting and negotiating contracts and other agreements.
I am a litigator so I understand how the various courts work and I am frequently in court on matters relating to my current employment.
I have carried out work relating to patents, copyright etc.
I want to move from the detailed and intricate workings of law, to the detailed, fraught and exciting world of owning and managing my own business.
