I was talking to a business owner the other day, and he asked me "What exactly is it that you do?". So I took out my business cards and spread nine cards on the table.
"Imagine that these nine cards represent individual parts of a process. It could be a sales process, an administrative function, or a team of people."
"These individual parts can be put together, like the answers to questions asked of a potential client, like the individual stages that make up an administration process, or like a team being built. And when you've put them together you have one large picture."
"But is that the whole picture? Is that the right picture? If I add more cards, take some cards away, or make the cards lie vertically instead of horizontally, does that not give you a different picture?"
"A lot of sales people, administration staff, and managers only see the picture as it is now laid out. My job is to ADD VALUE by identifying if the picture needs to be made bigger, smaller, turned around, or changed in some other way to ensure the desired outcome".
